Are we insane?

To begin, here's a promise for you. When we finally get to Paris, we'll blog a lot more, and I can guarantee it will be much more interesting! For now, I thought I would answer the question that often comes up...are we insane?

Some would say "yes." We've walked away from a secure management-level job, we've sold our house, we've sold lots of our stuff and we are trusting God to provide for all of our financial needs. Why would we do this?

It's a simple, one-word answer: obedience.

Mark and I love the Lord. A long time ago, we both heard the gospel message and knew that we were sinners in need of a savior, and that Jesus is that savior. Before we even met, we had both committed to live our lives for the Lord and not for ourselves.

About 2 1/2 years ago, it became clear that God had a very important job for us. What is it? To share the gospel message with the people of France. Our response was, "If God is asking us to go, then who are we to say "no" to God! We'll gladly go!"

So, why France? Because France is a place where very few people know who Jesus is - either know anything about him, or know him in a personal way. There are over 50 million people who have never heard that Jesus came to this earth as a baby (Christmas!) for one purpose: to live a sinless life and die (Good Friday!) and then rise again (Easter!) so that he would be the perfect sacrifice to pay for the sins of the world once-for-all! And that by simply recognizing that you are a sinner in need of a savior, believing that Jesus died on the cross for your sins, and deciding to surrender your life to His will (live His way rather than yours), you can have fellowship with God the Father and spend eternity with Him in heaven when you die. That, my friends, is good news!

Because of the importance of than message, what we are doing suddenly makes all sorts of sense.

So, what is happening now? We are waiting on the Lord to provide the rest of our financial support. We are meeting with people and sharing about the work that God has called us to do in Paris. We are anxious to get to Paris, but waiting on God's perfect timing.

In the wait, God is teaching us so very much! And, He is providing amazingly well for our needs. We're excited for the day when we can finish this story and share that we are on our way to Paris! Hopefully, very soon...

Being Insane for the Gospel of Jesus Christ...doesn't get much better than that!
