We enjoyed a fabulous traditional Thanksgiving Dinner with about 20 Americans living here in Paris on the 27th of November , and last night we were invited to a French dinner with about 15 French believers. It was such a treat! The dinner was a celebration to mark the end of the 2009 year for this group of people who study God's word together as part of Community Bible Study. Mark has joined their group and is finding the conversation and study to be very helpful in improving his French - both every day French speaking and in learning Biblical French vocabulary. The group invited our entire family to come to the dinner. Here are a couple of photos:
They served a 7 course dinner that took 4 hours to eat together. It was amazing from the first bite to the last! Not only that, but the fellowship was incredible. It was a total joy to meet French people who truly love the Lord!
Things are "heating up" here in Paris with the Christmas holiday fast approaching. We are hosting an American Christmas Cookie bake with some of Lena's friends from school, having our across-the-street neighbors over for a visit, baking cookies to give to our apartment building neighbors, and we're busy with the normal Christmas shopping activities.
It's been great fun to see Paris "do Christmas." The many Christmas lights have finally come on at night, the merry-go-rounds that have been assembled on many a town square are now available to ride, and the Christmas markets that have sprung up all over the place are now open. Here are a few photos for you to enjoy...
Here's the center of our town...complete with a merry-go-round and twinkling lights down the main street. (This would be one of those times that pictures just do not do justice!)

And many stores have transformed their fronts with decorations for Christmas. Here are a few examples.
This is a hair salon.Sometime this week we hope to go down to the Champs-Elysees. We're told the lights are amazing! If we're able, we'll post photos to show you the lights and the Christmas markets...Paris style.
